We have an new opening for a Colour Development Manager with a well established company based in Athlone. This is a significant and dynamic role which is a pivotal role within the organisation. In this role you will lead all aspects of coloured masterbatch development and associated colour standards within an export-driven plastics manufacturing company based in Ireland. The successful candidate will report to the Head of Quality / R+D function.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for pigment, additive and colour masterbatch developments within the company
- Provide technical expertise in pigments, dyes & additives including sourcing, validation & approval of new materials.
- Technical support to colour department in terms of colour formulations, colour matching, colour measurement, colour standards, product testing, process troubleshooting, claims investigation and training
- Introduction and maintenance of colour standards
- Oversee the maintenance and updating of inspection, measuring and production equipment within the colour department.
- Ensure that GMP’s are maintained and that quality standards, safety protocols, regulatory and customer requirements continue to be met, e.g. ISO 9000, ISO 45000, REACH, food approval, UL, outdoor weathering.
- Cross-departmental technical support in addition to external support to sales (customers, OEMs) to resolve colour related customer complaints. The latter will require some travel.
- Lead and support specific R+D projects
Education:
- Education to degree level, ideally in a Polymer Engineering or Science discipline
- Ideally 3+ years’ experience working with plastics and pigments in a high volume compounding manufacturing environment
- Experience with colour measurement systems & colour-match software an advantage
- Research & development experience an advantage

- Possess excellent attention to detail, maintaining high standards.
