Buyer Planner

Currently recruiting for a Buyer Planner for a Galway based multinational. Hybrid role.


Responsible for procuring raw materials, components, equipment, tooling, supplies and services. Assist in implementing sourcing & commodity strategies for all goods and services to improve all areas of Quality, Cost and Service.


  • Establishes and reviews requirements, generates, adjusts and expedites purchase orders based on MRP results (or results found on other planning systems) along with pertinent information used to run the business that may influence order execution decisions.
  • Coordinates with the Planners or Budget Owners to maintain optimal service levels and determine the proper priorities for support.
  • Keeps informed of any problems/delays caused by Suppliers or general market conditions and communicate any impacts/constraints to the Planner.
  • Interfaces with core functions such as quality, engineering, planning, and product development Identify risk areas and implement mitigating action.
  • Responsible for managing the day-to-day supplier relationship.
  • Monitors and communicates quality and delivery performance within site and the supplier.
  • Constantly strives to improve the Quality of goods and services supplied.
  • Minimises the impact of expired, excess and obsolete materials and appropriately dispositions of the material.
  • Identifies opportunities to implement best inventory management practices, such as automated Kanban and Consignment Programs. 
  • Identifies cost-saving opportunities from the existing vendor base.
  • Assists in the preparation and execution of the annual materials budget.

 

Requirements:

  • NFQ level 8 degree in Business / Supply Chain or related field is required.
  • A minimum of two years post qualification experience in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of SAP, MRP Systems, and Rapid Response (Kinaxis) is highly desirable.
  • Experience in leading Sales, Inventory and Operations Planning.
  • Knowledge of End-to-End Supply Chain.
