Buyer and Logistics Specialist

The Job:

We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Buyer & Logistics Specialist to join a growing team within a regulated pharmaceutical environment. This is a key role responsible for ensuring the efficient, compliant, and cost-effective procurement and movement of materials and products across the supply chain.


The successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining uninterrupted operations by managing supplier relationships, coordinating logistics activities, and supporting inventory and planning functions in line with GMP/GDP requirements.


Key Responsibilities


  • Source, evaluate, and manage suppliers in line with company policies and regulatory standards
  • Issue purchase orders and manage the full order lifecycle from placement through to delivery
  • Monitor supplier performance across quality, delivery, and compliance metrics
  • Maintain accurate procurement documentation and ensure audit readiness
  • Work closely with Quality Assurance to ensure supplier compliance with GMP standards
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound logistics, transportation, and warehousing activities
  • Ensure timely delivery of raw materials, APIs, and finished products
  • Manage relationships with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and logistics providers
  • Oversee import/export activities and ensure compliance with customs and regulatory requirements
  • Track shipments and proactively resolve supply chain disruptions or delays
  • Collaborate with planning and operations teams to maintain optimal inventory levels
  • Support forecasting and demand planning activities
  • Monitor stock levels to minimise shortages and excess inventory
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, GDP, and pharmaceutical industry regulations
  • Maintain documentation to support internal, external, and regulatory audits

Requirements:

  • 4–5 years’ experience in procurement and/or logistics within pharmaceutical, biotech, or regulated manufacturing environments
  • Experience working within GMP/GDP environments is highly desirable
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Logistics, or a related discipline
  • Strong negotiation and supplier relationship management skills
  • Good understanding of pharmaceutical supply chain compliance and regulations
  • Experience using ERP systems
  • Knowledge of import/export procedures and Incoterms
