Buyer - Permanent Position

Our client, a well-established Pharmaceutical company with 30 years of successful business, are seeking a Buyer to service their manufacturing plants in Dublin and the UK. They will have ultimate responsibility for ensuring the purchasing requirements (chemicals and packaging) of the Group are done in an efficient way and economical way.

Reporting to the CFO/COO, a key element of the role will be working with other functions within the business such as regular dialogue with the Manufacturing Manager, Supply Chain, Warehouse, Head of QA and Head of QC as well as the Regulatory Manager.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Buyer to join the team at an exciting juncture with new management having acquired the business and looking to grow rapidly.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Understanding license requirements and what flexibility the company has with regard to purchasing and what suppliers can be used.
  • Source range of pricing for all chemicals and packaging for the existing portfolio of products to ensure the best value for money.
  • For NPD projects, source pricing for any new materials.
  • Responsible for ordering all chemicals and componentry for production.
  • Prepare chemical and component forecasts and review with suppliers to ensure continuity of supply.
  • Ensuring materials/componentry delivered on time for production and liaising with quality to ensure all tests passed and ready for production.
  • Completion/Update/Compliance of/with SOPs and various other regulatory requirements.
  • Negotiate contracts to include cost per unit, MOQs and lead times.
  • Build and maintain relationships with existing and new suppliers including measurement of suppliers against agreed KPIs.
  • Continuously monitor trends, innovations, regulations and new technology that may impact the business in relation to purchasing decisions.
  • Maintaining master data in our financial and MRP system.

Requirements:

  • Approx. 3-5 years of experience in a similar role in the pharmaceutical industry/cGMP environment.
  • Solid knowledge of relevant regulatory guidance and industry practices.
  • Good planning and organisational skills with strong time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and pro-actively in an extremely fast-paced growing environment.
  • Strong planning, organisational, and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and negotiation ability.
  • Computer literate and proficient in all Microsoft programs.
  • Valid passport as travel required 1-2 times per month.

*Candidates for this role can be based in Ireland or the UK due to the location of the manufacturing sites.
