Associate Director of Engineering

An exciting new position at Associate Director level has opened up with a leading manufacturing company in Co. Mayo. The Associate Director of Engineering will oversee a team of between 20-25 direct reports with a particular focus on plant Maintenance and maximizing the availability of Manufacturing Equipment. You will manage all relevant engineering budgets, focus on continual operational improvements and employee development.


  • Provide manufacturing engineering service, maximising equipment availability and ensuring compliance.

  • Control engineering budgets, focus on operational improvements, and facilitate employee development.

  • Oversee day-to-day maintenance activities for manufacturing and utility equipment.

  • Manage records, documentation, and liaison with internal/external engineering personnel.

  • Establish department goals, schedules, and timetables.

  • Assist in managing manufacturing equipment development and reliability programs.

  • Prepare capital expenditure requests and maintain monthly engineering metrics.

  • Ensure successful audits and compliance with calibration requirements.

  • Cross-train within engineering and uphold safety standards.

  • Implement equipment/process upgrades in a continuous improvement environment.

  • Support the Engineering Team in maintaining equipment to legal and corporate standards.


  • 3rd level degree in engineering or similar discipline with 5+ years industry experience.

  • 2 years of people management experience preferred.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Biopharmaceutical/Pharma/Medical Devices operations.

  • Experience in Maintenance Excellence Program/Reliability Engineering preferred.

  • Strong people management and conflict resolution skills.

  • Clean room experience required
