This lecturing position will be based at a Partner University of Technology in China.
The appointee will be required to teach on an undergraduate programme in ICT and Software Engineering at East China University of Technology, Nanchang, China. ECUT is a comprehensive university with 23 departments and 1,500 professors, associate professors and instructors. There are more than 20,000 students studying at ECUT. ECUT has three campuses: two in Fuzhou and one in Nanchang, the capital city of Jiangxi Province. The position is based at the Nanchang campus.
The teaching post in Software Engineering is to deliver modules in Software Engineering to students studying on Bachelor of Software Engineering at ECUT from 1 September 2018 to 30 June 2019.
A first or second class honours degree (Level 8) in Computer Science or Software Engineering or Software Development or an approved equivalent qualification
Not less than three years’ industrial, research or other professional experience in the software industry subsequent to obtaining the above qualification.
Hold a relevant Masters / PhD degree
Applicants to have gained an extensive knowledge of Java programming, databases and software development through working on a number of large projects and to have gained real insight into the software and ICT industry
Candidates will be expected to be self starters, able to operate independently. In addition, they should have excellent interpersonal skills including patience, diplomacy and cross-cultural awareness.
The compensation package includes provision for flights to and from China, and accommodation on campus for the duration of the contract, together with one additional “Home Leave” trip to Ireland (or an equivalent value round trip flight elsewhere). Visas and insurance will be arranged by the Institute. Please note that appointment is subject to a work permit being issued by the Chinese authorities which also requires the completion of a medical examination.
The appointee will play an active role in the academic direction of courses including teaching, academic assessment and academic administration at the Partner University in China. Full job spec on application.
