Assistant Accountant

Role Overview

  • Role: Assistant Group Financial Accountant
  • Job Type: Initially a 6-month fixed-term contract (FTC) with the potential for a longer-term role depending on business needs.
  • Working Week: Monday to Thursday, 8:00 to 16:30 and Friday, 8:00 to 15:30 (39 hours)

Responsibilities:

As an Accounts Assistant, your duties will include:

  • Revenue reconciliation to trial balance
  • Bank posting and reconciliation of numerous bank accounts in various currencies
  • Deposit management and reconciliation
  • VAT return reconciliation and processing
  • Producing aged debtors listing and timely statements
  • Actively managing debtors for payments and resolving queries
  • Processing weekly payroll and preparing monthly returns
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts with analysis and commentary
  • Month-end journal preparation and balance sheet reconciliation
  • Preparing weekly/monthly reports comparing actual results vs budgets with commentary
  • Assisting in the preparation of the annual audit

Requirements:

As an Accounts Assistant, your should have:

  • An accounting degree (qualified, or part-qualified accountant).
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a fast-paced industry environment
  • Proactive with the ability to use initiative, prioritize tasks, organize workflow, and meet deadlines
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel
