Accounts Assistant / Part Qualified Accountant

Part Qualified Accountant or Accounting Technician required for well established renewable technologies company in Sligo.
Our client is recruiting for a Part-Qualified Accountant or Accounting Technician to support the finance function while assisting with project costing, pricing, and profitability analysis. The successful candidate will work closely with finance, operations, and project management teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and commercially sound project pricing.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts & Finance

  • Process purchase and sales invoices.

  • Reconcile bank, supplier, and customer accounts.

  • Assist with month-end and year-end procedures.

  • Prepare VAT returns and statutory reporting information.

  • Maintain accurate financial records and accounting systems.

  • Support credit control and cash flow management.

  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities.

Project Costing & Pricing

  • Prepare cost estimates for projects and contracts.

  • Analyse materials, and overhead costs.

  • Assist in developing project pricing models and quotations.

  • Monitor project costs against budgets and identify variances.

  • Produce profitability reports for completed and ongoing projects.

  • Work with project managers to ensure pricing reflects actual project requirements.

  • Maintain costing databases and pricing schedules.

Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare management reports and KPI dashboards.

  • Analyse project performance and gross margins.

  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.

Requirements

  • Experience in an Accounts Assistant, Assistant Accountant, or similar finance role.

  • Part-qualified accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA, CPA, ATI, or equivalent) or actively studying towards qualification.

  • Experience using SAGE.

  • Strong Excel skills, including formulas, lookups, and data analysis.

  • Excellent numerical and analytical abilities.

  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with both finance and operational teams.

  • Experience with pricing and costing

  • Knowledge of accounting software such as Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, SAP, or similar ERP systems.

  • Experience in construction, or project-based environments.
