Accounts Assistant

The Job:

Based in Celbridge, Co. Kildare, with a Secondary School, this is a very attractive position for the right candidate. A stand-alone position, the Accounts Assistant will be employed on a 1 Year FTC and will work in accordance with the school year while still receiving your salary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage, coordinate, record and receipt all payments received by the school, including but not limited to payments from teachers for school trips, books, outings, payments from parents for the annual school charge, exam fees, journals, etc. and from tenants for hire of school premises

  • Prepare documentation for bank lodgements.

  • Manage the Petty Cash Records and Reconcile the Petty Cash transactions weekly

  • Record financial transactions on SAGE, including but not limited to invoices, cheques and cash receipts and bank lodgments

  • Process the payroll in a timely and accurate manner for all school staff

  • Prepare the financial report for the monthly Board of Management meeting

  • Produce monthly management accounts – Income and Expenditure report, Balance Sheet, Cash flow statement, Bank Balance report, Debtors & Creditors aged listing; Report on financial commitments

  • Perform month-end for Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets and General Ledger in the finance system

  • Prepare final accounts and liaise with auditors for annual accounts review.

  • Monitor the operation of financial controls through internal audits and introduce any necessary controls in consultation with the Principal/Board

  • Assist the Principal with the preparation of the draft school budget

Requirements:

  • Be a fully qualified accounting technician.

  • Have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a bookkeeping/ accountancy role.

  • Have experience in computerised accounts package.

  • Have experience in computerised payroll package.

  • Knowledge of payroll, RCT and VAT.

  • Excellent level of numerical and analytical skills

  • Experience in business online banking and processing payment runs.

  • Experience in the software packages, Excel, Word, and Outlook

  • Be receptive and willing to upskill

  • Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
