Account Manager (Field Based/Remote)

My client, a well established multinational based in Offaly, is looking to hire an Account Manager. This role is not based on site, it is covering the west, midlands, east and north of Ireland (including Northern Ireland). This person ideally needs to be coming from a pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical manufacturing background, someone who has a strong understanding of microbiology. While some sales/account management experience is desirable, what they really want is someone who is very strong technically and is a good problem solver and is looking to make a move into a more commercial/sales role. This role will be covering Ireland and their will be travel 70-80% of the time.


  • Implements coordinated global, European and local sales & marketing strategies to attain assigned sales revenue goals. Manages time, travel and sales activities to maximise effectiveness. Travel at least 70-80% of time to customer’s facilities and distributors

  • Responsible and accountable for assigned expense budget, accuracy of product forecasts and regular routine account maintenance. 

  • Sells to and meets (or exceeds) personal sales targets. Coordinates sales efforts with supporting colleagues where appropriate, identifies market requirements within the territory and ensures that coordinated and approved sales strategies are implemented in an efficient manner.

  • Proposes and presents any changes in sales strategies, protocols or procedures through line management for approval.

  • Develops & maintains close association with key accounts, consultants, influential people, professional organisations, sales channels and buying groups to enhance the professional image of the Corporation.

  • Complies with the spirit and letter of the law, government regulations and company policies.

  • Defines & implements personal training and self-improvements programmes to ensure personal continuous development. 

  • Uses sound analytical skills to develop strategic vision, drive business and provide informed sales reports               


  • University degree or equivalent in scientific degree (e.g. Microbiology, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering). If non-technical degree, technical ability must be demonstrated.

  • Minimum 3-5 years successful technical & strategic B2B sales or technical consultant experience to the Pharma/Biopharma/Medical Device Industry or minimum 5 years Pharma/Biopharma manufacturing or quality experience

  • Knowledge of GMP industry and validation requirements 

  • Strong understanding of Customer and market dynamics and requirements, with demonstrated ability to expand existing Customer relationships as well as develop new ones. 

  • Demonstrated track record of achieving or exceeding sales goals.

  • Deep knowledge of product and Customer needs.

  • Ability to work in a self-directed capacity, adapt to change, and set priorities and balance sales and administrative duties.
