Davin Ferguson – “We enjoy a strong sense of community that we might not have found in Dublin and a good environment for family life and outdoor hobbies…”
In his role as a Principal Consultant with Collins McNicholas, Davin Ferguson often deals with candidates who are looking to relocate to the West, so it is fitting that he went through that process himself when he and his wife returned to Manorhamilton, Co Leitrim, after eight years in Dublin.
Having worked in recruitment within the engineering and construction sectors in Dublin, Davin now works across a broader spectrum of disciplines with Collins McNicholas including life sciences, engineering and supply chain.
The prospect of a better family lifestyle prompted the desire to relocate. When his wife was expecting the first of their three children, the idea of having grandparents and a support network of friends and family close by was instantly appealing.
“We have a good network of friends around Manorhamilton, some who had stayed around home and others who, like us, returned after spending time in Dublin, London or elsewhere. We enjoy a strong sense of community that we might not have found in Dublin and a good environment for family life and outdoor hobbies like running, cycling and hill walking,” Davin explains.
“On top of all of this, my 30-minute commute is no hardship when it’s a nice drive and you’re moving as opposed to being stuck in traffic.”
Davin enjoys the variety of dealing with different people every day – from clients to candidates and feels a strong sense of satisfaction when he brings a candidate through a process that results in them getting a job they love.
Now with Collins McNicholas for five years, Davin has noticed more jobs becoming available in the North West over the last 18 months and more people keen to relocate from the East Coast.
