Collins McNicholas named one of Ireland’s Best Managed Companies

Collins McNicholas, Recruitment & HR Services Group, has been named as one of Ireland’s best-managed companies under the Gold category in the Deloitte Best Managed Companies Awards Programme. This is the company’s 5th time to be named one of Ireland’s top companies for demonstrating superior business performance. The award comes a month after the company was named as one of the Best Workplaces in Ireland in 2018. “We are delighted to be recognised for this award for the fifth year in a row. It is a testament to the commitment and dedication of our team, and the exceptional level of service they deliver, that has helped us to grow this business over the last 28 years,” said Niall Murray, Managing Director of Collins McNicholas. “We pride ourselves on the long-standing relationships we build with our customers and we would like to extend our thanks to all our customers for their loyalty over the years. Congratulations to all of this year’s winners.” The company was recognised  on Thursday, 15 March, at an awards gala dinner in Dublin’s Convention Centre which was attended by over 1,000 people from the Irish business community. The Deloitte Best Managed Companies awards programme, in association with the Bank of Ireland, promotes and recognises excellence in Irish-owned and managed companies. Now in its tenth year, it is the only awards scheme in the country that considers a company’s performance from every perspective. Deloitte Partner, Anya Cummins said: “2018 marks the 10th year of the Deloitte Best Managed Companies Awards programme, which has grown from 25 companies in year 1 to 137 in year 10. The programme represents companies from different industries with many industry-specific challenges but also common characteristics such as adaptability, innovation, and ambition. Their stories are the stories of Irish business this past decade, and they are stories of resilience, recovery, and confidence.” Andrew Graham, Director, Bank of Ireland Corporate Banking said: “The Best Managed programme puts the spotlight on well-managed companies that are generating strong returns, as well as growing their businesses through investment in technology, a customer-centric approach, and commitment to developing leaders of the future. The process and frameworks used by these businesses continues to serve them well in adapting to and succeeding in the dynamic and ever-evolving global markets in which they now compete. We have been really impressed by not only the breadth of businesses but also their ambition, drive and determination. I have no doubt that they will continue to set the benchmark for excellence in the years to come and we wish them continued success.”     Niall Murray Managing Director Collins McNicholas Recruitment & HR Services...

Our Pieta House Partnership

Collins McNicholas were honoured to make a donation to Pieta House last week at our annual Company Planning & Development Day, held this year in The Johnstown Estate, Enfield. We have partnered with Pieta House for the last 5 years as part of our CSR strategy, and each year we have made efforts throughout each of our offices to raise funds for their important work. Tom McEvoy joined us to accept the cheque on behalf of Pieta house, which was founded by Senator Joan Freeman in 2006, and it has been truly fulfilling to support their work and we encourage others to do the same. This year’s donation was made up from funds collected at coffee mornings held, quiz nights hosted and staff donations. Over the years, we have held numerous events and challenges in aid of Pieta House, such as our 250km run in 2015. Pieta House provides a free, therapeutic approach to people who are in suicidal distress & those who engage in self-harm. They now have 15 offices located nationwide and their contact details can be found here.           Niall Murray Managing Director Collins McNicholas Recruitment & HR Services...

However, by the end of January, many of the changes that were so urgent and important at the end of December, have gone by the wayside as we slip back into the comfort of our old workplace and familiar routine. Moving jobs or changing careers can be a scary prospect and sometimes people think that it is easier for them to stay where they are — even if they are unhappy — rather than make a fresh start. Collins McNicholas Wins Sligo Business of The Year 2017

On Friday last, December 1st, Collins McNicholas Recruitment & HR Services Group were winners of The Sligo Business of The Year at the annual Sligo Chamber of Commerce dinner. This award was humbling & honouring as we know of so many fantastic businesses in Sligo at the moment. When I think back to 1998 and we were operating with an Apple Mac and the Golden Pages phone book in a single office, it is clear to see how far we have come. We had youth and naivety on our side, it can be a great combination. From that point on we have grown the business with great support from the business community in Sligo and the North West Region. Just over two years ago Michelle Murphy, Antoinette O’Flaherty and myself completed an MBO to take over the business. We now employ over 50 people across six offices, 15 of whom are based in Sligo including our recruitment, finance and marketing teams. We have ambitions to grow the business in the coming years. We have had a lot of help and support along the way. I would like to thank our customers, suppliers and partners locally who have supported our journey over the past 19 years in Sligo and 27 years as the group – thank you all for your support and loyalty. We have been blessed with some loyal customers whom we have had the pleasure of building real partnerships with. On the night, a number of other extremely talented Sligo business people were also acknowledged. EJ’s Menswear – an incredible example of innovation and brilliant marketing. They are a...

Company Day Out in Limerick

Collins McNicholas recently had its annual company day in Limerick city. Every year the entire company gets together to have some fun, meet the newest members of our team and catch up on what is happening in the company. We choose a different location each summer, last year it was Killaloe, and everyone was delighted to find out we would be going to Limerick this year. Limerick has tonnes of interesting things to see and do, great accommodation options and the people are terrific. Our day started bright and early when we took part in the launch of the Mid-West Relocation Survey, along with our partners in the Limerick Chamber of Commerce, Limerick City & County Council and IDA Ireland. The survey was a remarkable success. It highlights the vibrancy of the local communities, not just in Limerick but throughout the Mid-West region. Lots of people are relocating to take advantage of the many job opportunities that have appeared because of the regions rapid growth in the last few years. IDA Ireland sited it as the fastest growing region for FDI in the country. Multinational companies are recognising the many advantages of setting up a facility in Limerick, with its large pool of graduates from the University of Limerick, and the overall cost-competitiveness of the region. Recent investments include Regeneron, Element Six, Northern Trust, and Uber, to name a few. That afternoon, following the success of the survey launch, we had a beautiful lunch at the Strand Hotel, where we also stayed that night, before proceeding to the Milk Market for a series of games organised by Get West....
