 Role & responsibilities:

Reporting to the Production Manager, the successful candidate will coordinate activities and manage the Toolroom team to deliver fit for purpose blow moulds and fixtures on time every time to the Production Department.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Identify causes of problems in production and work towards continuous improvements in all aspects of toolroom activities and equipment performance
  • Work with Production, Quality and Maintenance Departments to identify and put in place permanent and effective technical solutions to improve OEE
  • Develop tooling design with engineering to a customer specification
  • Design and/or specify tooling requirements to support manufacturing processes
  • Manufacture New tooling in house where machine capability is available and coordinate external toolmaking vendors where required
  • Modify moulds for Product Development
  • Modify fixtures as required for Production
  • Manage toolroom engineering equipment and resources
  • Mange all tooling spares – ensure adequate supply of spares and manage spares revision control
  • Instruct toolmakers in correct toolmaking practices and identify training needs
  • Drive continuous improvement is all aspects of toolroom activities
  • Recommend and implement improvements and modifications
  • Evaluate moulds, where necessary, prior to them leaving mould makers
  • Compliance to Tooling Preventative Maintenance program
  • Implement 5S activities to improve visual factory

 Qualifications & Experience:

  • Toolmaker should have completed a craft apprenticeship in Toolmaking and have extensive experience at management level
  • Bachelor degree in Engineering or relevant field an advantage
  • Experience in CNC programming, Solidworks and CAD/CAM software.
  • Experience of the application and understanding of Problem solving techniques
  • Self-starter with good inter-personal skills
  • Practical level-headed individual who is prepared to actively participate as an active member of the team
  • The ability to troubleshoot process and equipment in a logical manner to resolve the issues
  • Excellent Stakeholder management skills
  • Decision making ability
