Purchasing & Stores Manager – Manufacturing industry – Leitrim

Control and management of the Storeroom, Chemical Stores and the Gas Compound. Validation of the working capital employed, management of the purchase, receipt and issue of all stock and non-stock items under the control of the Stores Dept.

Main Responsibilities:  

  • Purchasing and negotiation of goods and services including negotiation of prices, vendor selection and generation of stock orders. 

  • Interacting with end user, departments and suppliers to determine requirements and make decisions to purchase or repair items; (being mindful of the plant Repair and Return programme which is of critical financial importance in the context of overall production cost), setting up of single source suppliers and managing supplier returns.

  • Timely ordering of non-bulk raw materials, chemicals, ancillary items and packaging items, in order to balance available storage with production requirements.

  • Expediting stock orders, and ensuring appropriate measures are in place to follow up on outstanding stock purchase orders.

  • Maintains up to date data basis with inventory and purchasing records, price changes, part numbers and part descriptions.

  • Management of a purchasing function dealing with non-stock goods and services, including service contracts, required for the efficient functioning of  Plant Maintenance and Operations systems, sourcing, negotiation and placing of Purchase Orders.

  • Inventory management including reviewing and maintaining stock by means of: Cycle counting, good receipts and issues, review for obsolete stock, review for over-stocked inventory, review for slow moving parts, good inwards & goods outward procedures, correct storage and maintenance, Insurance and Environmental spares

  • Security / Documentation; security of the storeroom and all inventory parts. Proactively raise issues of concern and follow up with appropriate action.  Document all movements IN and OUT of the storeroom correctly and accurate, a full audit trail of record keeping can be proven.

Requirements:

  • Business or Engineering 3rd level Qualification

  • 5 years experience as minimum

  • Management through systems and process

  • Implement systems and processes

  • Computerised systems and or Store room

  • Strong Competencies across areas such as: Negotiation, Influence, Decision Making and Action oriented
