Project Engineer – Dublin

This is a key position in the company and the candidate will be responsible for working within a team of mechanical and electrical design engineers. The company works primarily in the industrial sector, including water/wastewater treatment sectors, and is involved in the design and build MEICA plant including civil construction. 

Responsibilities

  • Manage project activities within the project team ensuring project objectives and deliverables are met
  • Lead required operational activities for the project in line with the project objectives
  • Produce and manage the project strategy ensuring agreed objectives can be met
  • Monitor activity progress for the project in line with the project objectives, deliverables and timelines and report potential delays including mitigation recommendations
  • Manage the project risk log ensuring all identified risks have been mitigated
  • Provide project reports on a regular basis for effective communication
  • Provide support for the operational activities and project phase reviews
  • Conduct project reviews with the project team and site management on a regular basis
  • Provide support for product costing and financial assessment of the project
  • Prepare or oversee tenders for equipment and undertake tender appraisal
  • Monitor project expenses in line with the approved project budget
  • Provide support for preparation of monthly Managerial reports
  • Ensure smooth transfer of project knowledge and technology from engineering to construction/ installation
  • Oversee the construction/ installation activities
  • Management of other sub-contractors or suppliers
  • Ensures all activities, equipment and facilities comply with site Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental policies

 

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Hold a relevant BEng (Hons) or MEng degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or related discipline
  • Experience of working within in a multi-discipline engineering team
  • Experience of sub-contractor and supplier management
  • Experience of producing feasibility, outline and detailed design of various MEICA plant/systems
  • Experience of procurement of such equipment
  • Experience of working with third party designers
  • Strong IT skills
  • Experience in the water/ wastewater sector is an advantage

 

Person

  • Effective leadership and communication skills with engineering and project management staff
  • This is a dynamic role and the person needs to be energetic with enough experience to be respected by all members of the project teams (essential)
  • Good knowledge of techniques for planning, monitoring and controlling projects (essential)
  • Sufficient seniority and credibility to advise project teams on their projects (essential);
  • The ability to find ways of solving or pre-empting problems (essential).
