Materials Controller Team Lead – West

The Materials Controller Regional Team Lead is responsible for the delivery and execution of key tasks at multiple customer sites in the North West and West region, including inventory management, KPI metric review, purchasing, receiving, chemical tracking, storeroom management, product delivery, project management, and general customer services activities.

Key Tasks

Staff Management:

  • Responsible for coordinating, collating and execution of Teams & metrics for the region
  • Assists in cross training all members of the team in specific area of expertise.
  • Update of regional training matrix and EHS, site safety training
  • Management of site cover for region, e.g., holidays, sick leave, general absences etc.
  • Coordinating operational issues for region as they arise
  • Responsible for performing Performance Management Reviews for team

Manage Site Duties:

  • Supports multiple customer’s sites in the North West and Western area.
  • Performs inventory management related functions such as reviewing Customer BOM, monitoring slow moving and provision stock, conduct cycle counting and yearly inventories, Reviews consumption and flag reports, etc.  Increases revenue by controlling customer spend, provides daily customer service functions and interfaces with the customer relative to inventory management.
  • Responds in a timely and efficient manner to customer enquiries and resolves inventory supply problems to the satisfaction of the customer.
  • To create and develop on going business relationships with customers and to grow and develop new opportunities for the department’s range of products and services.
  • Regularly provides, liaises and updates Management Team/Account Managers on opportunities available on sites that are currently availing of our services.
  • Actively participates in creating continuous improvement initiatives programs for enhanced process improvements and service efficiencies on our customer sites.
  • Communicates continuous process improvements initiatives programs achieved to Management Team amd Customers.
  • Creates, Maintain and coordinate site specific tasks as per relevant SOW and SOP’s
  • Performs inventory management related functions such as reviewing Customer BOM, monitoring slow moving and provision stock, conduct cycle counting and yearly inventories, Reviews consumption and flag reports, etc.  Increases revenue by controlling customer spend, provides daily customer service functions and interfaces with the customer relative to inventory management.
  • Interfaces directly with customer site lead, responsible for managing consigned, non-consigned, customer owned and 3rd party inventory onsite.
  • Reviews regional activity and aligns sites using best practice.
  • Identifies additional added value services and implements site audits as required.
  • Utilises computer systems, SAP, VSR+ and customer specific shipping systems in fulfilment of duties
  • Meets goals and objectives: safety, performance and quality

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

  • 2-4 years’ equivalent experience in material handling/inventory replenishment or customer service
  • Previous staff management experience required.
  • Spilling containment training, IATA, DOT, IMDG and OSHA
  • Cross referencing and inside sales experience a plus
  • Valid drivers licence required
  • Experience in Lean Six Sigma process improvement and project management a plus
