Staff and clients of Collins McNicholas have pledged to walk the distance to raise vital funds for this worthy national charity.

Pieta House is a suicide and self-harm crisis centre founded by psychologist Joan Freeman. It first opened its doors in Lucan, Co. Dublin in January 2006, and there are now four Pieta House centres throughout Dublin, one in Limerick and one in Roscrea, Co. Tipperary. Three new centres will open in 2013 in Tuam, Cork and Castleisland.  Pieta House provides a professional, face-to-face, free of charge therapeutic service for people in the acute stages of distress. The unique clinically-based model developed by Pieta House is used across its five centres. Pieta House’s primary aim is to reduce suicide by helping people get through that critical phase when suicide becomes a plan rather than just an idea.

Gearing up for the Big Challenge ? Niall Murray (General Manager, Collins McNicholas), Michelle Murphy (Regional Manager, Collins McNicholas) with Colman Collins (Managing Director, Collins McNicholas) and Tom McEvoy (Funding & Advocacy Pieta House) get ready for the Collins McNicholas Walk or Run 250km Challenge which will take place in Galway on Friday 20th September in aid of Pieta House. Photo:-Mike ShaughnessySpeaking on behalf of Collins McNicholas, Colman Collins, Managing Director said ‘the selection of a charity to donate the proceedings from our event was not an easy task however the work carried out by Pieta House in this current challenging environment is crucial as many families are feeling the brunt of difficult times so need support, guidance and someone to share the burden of the load they are carrying’.  It is encouraging that Pieta House’s vision is that no-one in Ireland should be more than 100 kilometres from a Pieta House centre where they can avail of the clinical services at that time of crisis.

If you wish to join the Collins McNicholas team on the day to help them smash the 250km challenge please contact Michelle Murphy on 091-706706.
